Our Story So Far…

In March 2010 on an Organic Farm in Edenbridge, the current Managing Director for Pensworth, Arthur Dunne, met with Dave Terry to develop a dairy distribution network in and around Kent on behalf of Pensworth. With Dave’s many years of logistic experience, dairy knowledge and customer relations, Arthur knew that Dave would be the ideal person for this venture and asked him to become a member of the Pensworth group. After much discussion (and lots of coffee), a single handshake sealed the deal and Kent Dairy Company was born.

Dave started this venture as just ‘one man and a van’ whereby he delivered each morning to a small selected customer base and then used his sale skills in the afternoon to gain potential new customers. Within just a few weeks Dave had managed to gain enough business to secure his first round, known as Kent Dairy Round 1 (KDC1).

Brief History…

With demand growing and the business expanding, a young Sam Smith (current Depot Manager) was employed to take over KDC1 so that Dave could start up Kent Dairy Round 2 (KDC2). By November 2010, Dave had managed to secure five growing rounds, which meant more people joining his team.  The team now included five drivers, his daughter Nadine as office administrator, his mother Lee as bookkeeper and his uncle Geoff as accountant. To compliment the team and to ensure continued growth for the business, Dave employed experienced salesman Dave Moore and youngest daughter Jade to work on bringing in new business. The Kent Dairy Company was fast becoming the proud, family run, wholesale dairy delivery company that they are today.

Expanding the Business…

By 2011 Kent Dairy Company had outgrown the farm and found a new home in Court Lane, Hadlow, where they gained a lot more space for a growing business. With a revamped logo and high customer service standards their sound reputation was quickly spreading which, subsequently saw an increase in the number of KDC rounds (up to seventeen) and a stream of new business.

After six years in Hadlow, and with continuing increase in business, it was time for Kent Dairy Company to find a larger premises. In June 2017, Kent Dairy Company moved to, and continue to reside on, Spelmonden Farm, Goudhurst (approximately 17,000 sq ft of space!).

Those early values of ‘always putting the customer first’ has been pivotal to the current success and as such, continue to remain pertinent within the values and work ethos that underpin the business today.

Our Success…

Fast-forward 8 years (and many sleepless nights), Kent Dairy Company now successfully operates twenty three rounds with a fleet of fifteen vans, six 7.5t HGV’s, two 12.0t HGV’s and over fifty employees.   The team ensures distribution of the highest quality farm fresh milk and dairy produce across Kent, Surrey, East Sussex and South London to over 1400 customers daily (for a detailed list please visit our delivery page).

The uniqueness of Kent Dairy Company is they only sell what they specialise in, so the customer can always be assured of great products delivered to the highest standards.  Dave believes firmly that this is what sets them apart from other companies and why their customer base remains so loyal and is always increasing: “With continued investment in the right technology, equipment and most importantly PEOPLE, customers receive the best service possible”. The company motto is: ‘if Kent Dairy Company doesn’t take care of their customers, someone else will!’
